BBK donates to Smile charity supporting children with cancer

MANAMA — The Bank of Bahrain and Kuwait (BBK), Bahrain’s pioneer in retail and commercial banking, presented a financial donation to the Smile initiative, an initiative of Bahrain Future Society for Youth, which provides psychosocial support to children with cancer and their parents in the kingdom of Bahrain.

This comes within the framework of the bank’s keenness to advance its social responsibility towards the Bahraini community at all times, as it affirms its constant commitment to support pioneering initiatives in humanitarian work, including the “Smile” initiative, which currently provides services to more than 130 children with cancer.

Hassaan Mohammed Burshaid, group chief human resources & administration officer, said that this donation affirms BBK’s belief in pursuing its humanitarian role and its social responsibility to promote positive change in the Bahraini community by contributing in constructive development.

“BBK’s values the significant role fulfilled by the Smile initiative in supporting children with cancer patients and their families, and the reputation it enjoys through the unique and distinguished role it provides in helping the young heroes who fight cancer in Bahrain.” Burshaid added.

Chairman of Future Society for Youth, Sabah Abdul Rahman Al Zayani, expressed his profound appreciation to BBK for its charitable and humanitarian work, and its commitment to securing this donation to the Smile initiative, pointing out the significance of this donation in promoting the initiative's work in the field of providing psychosocial support to mitigate the suffering of children with cancer and their families in the treatment phase by providing a variety of supportive care.

“BBK is at the forefront of national organizations that support children with cancer through the Smile initiative. The latest outstanding aspect of this support is the bank's adoption of equipping a special hall named BBK Hall at the Smile initiative headquarters in Umm Al-Hassam, to represent an evident example of BBK’s support to the children with cancer,” Al Zayani added.
