RIYADH — Minister of Health Dr. Tawfiq Al-Rabiah said that coronavirus vaccines are expected to reach all regions of the Kingdom within the coming three weeks.

He made these remarks while speaking to reporters during the launch of a number of health projects in the southern Jazan region, Al-Arabiya.Net reported.

The Ministry of Health announced earlier that it is currently studying other vaccines besides Pfizer-BioNTech, and the approval for it is expected to be made after conducting the necessary tests and studies.

The ministry officials stated that three million doses of the vaccine from Pfizer - BioNTech, would arrive in the Kingdom by the end of May 2021. Pfizer will deliver one million doses of the vaccine by the end of February 2021.

It is noteworthy that Saudi Arabia launched on Dec. 17 the coronavirus vaccination campaign with Minister Dr. Al-Rabiah receiving the first dose in Riyadh.

The vaccination campaign was launched later in Jeddah and Dammam and the entire regions of the Kingdom will be covered in the coming weeks.

The priority in vaccination in the first phase is for people above the age of 65, chronic patients as well as for health workers and those working in the sectors that are most vulnerable to the infection of the virus.

For weeks, Saudi Arabia has recorded a noticeable decrease in the number of coronavirus infections.

The Kingdom has extended the suspension of international flights and entry to the Kingdom through the land, air and sea ports for another week, for fear of transmitting the new surge of the virus, which was recorded in a number of countries, mainly in Britain and South Africa.
