King Salman, Crown Prince congratulate head of Sudan’s ruling council on Independence Day

RIYADH — Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman and Crown Prince Muhammad Bin Salman have sent cables of congratulations to Lt. Gen. Abdul Fattah Al Burhan Abdulrahman Al Burhan, the president of Transitional Sovereignty Council of Sudan, on the anniversary of his country's Independence Day.

The King and the Crown prince wished the Sudanese leader good health and happiness and the government and people of Sudan steady progress and prosperity.

Jan. 1 marks Sudan’s Independence Day, which is celebrated as a national holiday across the country.

On Jan. 1, 1956, Sudan gained its independence from the British ruling, coinciding with Sudan’s Independence Day with the first day of the New Year. — SG
