New cases and deaths continue to plunge as Saudi Arabia successfully combats COVID-19

RIYADH — Coronavirus cases in Saudi Arabia continued to drop, with 104 new infections reported on Tuesday, according to a statement from the Ministry of Health.

The health ministry also reported 9 more deaths over the past 24 hours due to complications caused by COVID-19.

This brings the total number of confirmed infections in the Kingdom to 363,259 and deaths to 6,265.

The ministry also reported 146 new recoveries over the past 24 hours, raising the total number of people free from the deadly virus to 354,755, with the recovery rate rising to 97.57 percent.

Riyadh region reported the highest number of infections with 47 cases, followed by Makkah region with 24 and the Eastern region with 13 cases.

The regions of Najran, Tabouk and Jazan saw two more cases each over the past 24 hours and Al-Baha, Hail, and Al-Qassim reported just 1 infection each while Al-Jouf region recorded none.

With the recoveries surpassing new cases regularly, the active cases in the Kingdom have also dropped to 2,239 out of which 364 were critical cases.
