Germany, Britain & France express deep concern over Iran’s plan to enrich uranium

January 06, 2021

BERLIN — Foreign ministers of Germany, Britain and France denounced in a joint statement Iran’s comeback to enrich uranium at new levels far above those stated in the nuclear arrangement signed between Iran and international forces in 2015.

A statement released by the German Foreign Ministry Wednesday confirmed that this measure, lacking a credible civil justification and representing a great proliferation risks, is considered a flagrant violation of Iran’s commitments according to a comprehensive joint working plan and is poised to undermine the arrangement.

The three countries, who signed the statement, said this negative grave development also undermines the assurances given by the arrangement’s parties on Dec. 21 and jeopardizes an important chance to return to diplomacy with the new US administration. — SPA
