Indo-Saudi Medical Forum Riyadh chapter opened

January 14, 2021

RIYADH — The Riyadh chapter of the Indo-Saudi Medical Forum Riyadh chapter opened (ISMF) was inaugurated by Indian Ambassador Dr. Ausaf Sayeed recently.

Dr. Faisal Al-Sugair, president & CEO, Saudi Center for International Strategic Partnerships, and Dr. Ahmed Assiri, assistant supervisor of Clinical Excellence General Directorate, Ministry of Health, attended the inauguration ceremony.

Dr. Fawaz Alhussain, consultant and professor at College of Medicine, King Saud University, will be the first president of the Riyadh chapter of the ISMF. Apart from Dr. Fawaz, the executive council members, city coordinators and members of the ISMF joined the inauguration ceremony, both physically and virtually.

The Jeddah chapter of the ISMF, a non-profit body under the aegis of Embassy of India, Riyadh, was held recently in the presence of eminent personalities in the field of healthcare in Saudi Arabia.

Jeddah was the first of two other chapters in Riyadh and Dammam — in an envisaged Kingdomwide body to synergize the healthcare sectors and professionals from India and Saudi Arabia.

The setting up of the forum is aimed at promoting ties between the medical fraternities of India and Saudi Arabia as well as other stakeholders in the field of healthcare from these two countries.

The forum, comprising Indian and Saudi doctors and experts in the field of healthcare and wellness, will play a supporting role in strengthening India-Saudi Arabia cooperation in the field of healthcare.

The ISMF was originally conceptualized by then Consul General of India in Jeddah and now Ambassador of India in Riyadh Dr. Sayeed as a high level institutional mechanism to foster collaboration between the medical fraternities of India and Saudi Arabia.

The success of the Jeddah chapter has paved the way for revamping and upscaling of the ISMF to a pan Saudi Arabian organization. The ISMF would be divided into three regional chapters, Jeddah, Dammam and Riyadh, which would each be led by regional executive councils.

The Jeddah chapter was inaugurated by the Ambassador on Dec. 25 and the Dammam chapter would also be inaugurated in the next few months. — SG
