Wizz Air Abu Dhabi takes to the skies for the first time

ABU DHABI, UAE — Saturday marked the first time that Wizz Air Abu Dhabi took to the skies in the UAE. The eco-friendly aircraft, Airbus A321neo, departed from Abu Dhabi International Airport at 12.30pm local time bound for Athens, Greece.

Shareef Al Hashmi, CEO of Abu Dhabi Airports greeted Kees Van Schaick, Managing Director of Wizz Air Abu Dhabi as the plane prepared to depart.

Wizz Air Abu Dhabi’s initial route network includes Athens, Thessaloniki, Alexandria, Kutaisi, Larnaca, Odesa and Yerevan. Further destinations will be announced over the coming months.

Wizz Air Abu Dhabi is a joint venture by ADQ, one of the region’s largest holding companies with a broad portfolio of major enterprises spanning key sectors of Abu Dhabi’s diversified economy, and Wizz Air Holdings Plc which is the largest low-cost airline in Central and Eastern Europe, operates a fleet of 136 Airbus A320 and A321 aircraft. — SG
