WASHINGTON — US President Donald Trump touted his economic and foreign policy record in a "farewell address" that suggested he may try to make another presidential run.

"Now, as I prepare to hand power over to a new administration at noon on Wednesday, I want you to know that the movement we started is only just beginning," Trump said in the speech taped Monday and released on Tuesday.

Trump said he was "proud to be the first president in decades who has started no new wars" and criticized last week's attack on the US Capitol. "Political violence is an attack on everything we cherish as Americans," he said. "It can never be tolerated."

Trump exits the White House a week after becoming the first president to be impeached for a second time. An article of impeachment accused Trump of inciting the Jan. 6 insurrection that left five people dead.

Trump expressed good wishes to President-elect Joe Biden, but did not concede the election.

Trump is scheduled to leave the White House early Wednesday morning, hosting a military send-off ceremony at Joint Base Andrews. If the schedule holds, will be at his Mar-a-Lago estate in Palm Beach, Florida, when his term expires at noon on Wednesday.
