Virus-related deaths fall to record low as Saudi Arabia records 238 new cases

RIYADH — New coronavirus cases in Saudi Arabia crossed the 200-mark for the second consecutive day after more than a month with 238 infections reported on Wednesday.

The Kingdom reported 226 new coronavirus cases on Tuesday.

According to the Ministry of Health, 3 more patients died over the past 24 hours due to complications, equaling the lowest single-day virus-related fatalities reported on Jan. 15 (Friday).

This brings the total number of confirmed infections in the Kingdom to 365,563 and virus-related fatalities to 6,338.

The ministry also reported 173 new recoveries over the past 24 hours, raising the total number of people free from the deadly virus to 357,177.

The Riyadh region reported the highest number of infections with 86 cases, followed by the Eastern region with 56 and the Makkah region with 38 cases.

The remaining cases were detected in different other regions of the Kingdom.

With the slight increase in new COVID-19 cases, the active cases in Saudi Arabia also rose to 2,048, out of which 331 were critical.
