Saudi Arabia reports 212 new COVID-19 cases as recoveries rise and deaths drop

RIYADH — New coronavirus cases in Saudi Arabia crossed the 200-mark for the third consecutive day after more than a month with 212 infections reported on Thursday.

According to the Ministry of Health, 4 more patients died over the past 24 hours due to complications caused by the virus.

This brings the total number of confirmed infections in the Kingdom to 365,775 and virus-related fatalities to 6,342.

The ministry also reported 160 new recoveries over the past 24 hours, raising the total number of people free from the deadly virus to 357,337.

The Riyadh region reported the highest number of infections with 83 cases, followed by the Eastern region with 39 and the Makkah region with 35 cases while the Jazan, Al-Jouf and Tabouk regions recorded 1 case each.

The remaining cases were detected in different other regions of the Kingdom.

With the slight increase in new COVID-19 cases over the past few days, the active cases in Saudi Arabia also rose to 2,096, out of which 326 were critical.
