Saudi Arabia leads regional condemnation of deadly Baghdad suicide bombings

RIYADH — Saudi Arabia condemned on Thursday the twin suicide bombings in a busy market in central Baghdad, killing at least 32 people and injuring 110 others.

In a statement on Thursday carried by the Saudi Press Agency, the foreign ministry reiterated Saudi Arabia's categorical rejection of terrorism in all its forms and forms irrespective of its motives and justifications, expressing solidarity with Iraq against all threats to its security and stability.

The ministry also expressed condolences and sympathy to the families of the victims and the government and people of Iraq, wishing the injured a speedy recovery.


Bahrain’s foreign ministry expressed deep condolences to the families and relatives of the victims, the government and the Iraqi people and wished speedy recovery for the injured.

The ministry affirmed Bahrain’s solidarity with Iraq in its war against terrorism, reiterating the country’s unwavering position that rejects violence and extremism of all forms and manifestations, irrespective of the motives and justifications.

The Bahraini ministry called for the need to join hands in order to confront these heinous terrorist acts that target the lives of safe civilians and seek to destabilize security and stability.

The foreign ministry of the United Arab Emirates in a statement expressed the country’s strong condemnation of of these criminal acts and its permanent rejection of all forms of violence and terrorism aimed at destabilizing security and stability in contravention of religious and humanitarian values and principles.

The ministry also expressed its sincere condolences to the families of the victims and wished a speedy recovery to the injured.

The UAE ministry also expressed its sincere condolences and condolences to the families of the victims, and wished for a speedy recovery for all the injured.

Kuwait expressed its condemnation and denunciation of the bombings in the strongest terms.

In a statement, the foreign ministry said: " This criminal and sinful attack that targeted innocent citizens and the security and stability of Iraq constitutes a violation of tolerant Islamic Shariah law and of all values and norms.

The ministry underlined Kuwait's solidarity with Iraq and support for Baghdad's efforts to maintain security and stability.

It also expressed its sincere condolences and deepest sympathy to the families of the victims, wishing those injured a speedy recovery.


Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council Nayef Al-Hajraf condemned expressed his sincere condolences to the families of the victims, wishing a speedy recovery for the injured.

He affirmed the GCC solidarity with the Republic of Iraq in combating terrorism and enhancing security and stability in its territories.


Dr. Al-Hajraf stressed the GCC firm stances toward terrorism and extremism as well as its rejection of all their forms and manifestations.

The Arab parliament also denounced the deadly bombings in Baghdad.

In a statement, Adel bin Abdulrahman Al-Asoumi, head of the Arab Parliament, affirmed the solidarity of the parliament with Iraq and its complete support for the war on terrorism and terrorist groups.
