MANAMA — The Bahrain Red Crescent Society (BRCS) launched a program to train its young and youth volunteers entitled "Youth for Good", as part of the Society's endeavors to effectively integrate Bahraini youth in its programs and activities, to achieve superiority in the field of relief and humanitarian work, and to ensure continuity and progress.

Dr. Nilofar Jahromi, head of Young & Youth Committee, explained that the program organized by the committee and extended over ten days included workshops dealing with many axes, including first aid, waste recycling, environmental care, sign language, and photography basics.

The program in addition taught the "Sphere" guide and how to apply its standards and principles in the field to intensify professional capabilities on humanitarian response, protection principles, the basic humanitarian standard for quality, accountability, and sources of food security and nutrition.

“The program was implemented for small groups of Bahrain Red Crescent volunteers at the Society's headquarters in the diplomatic area, taking into account all health precautionary requirements, and specialized trainers from inside and outside the Society undertook the task of training in this program.” Dr. Jahromi added.

This training program is part of the Bahrain Red Crescent’s strategy aimed at developing youth capabilities, providing them with a suitable environment, and contributing to the achievement of sustainable development goals, as young and youth perform an essential and integral part of the Red Cross and Red Crescent’s resources and assets.

They represent more than half of the 12 million active Red Cross and Red Crescent volunteers globally and form the backbone of the Bahrain Red Crescent's relief and humanitarian activities. — SG
