Virus-related deaths continue to drop in Saudi Arabia as recovery rate nears 98%

RIYADH — New coronavirus cases in Saudi Arabia crossed the 200-mark once again with 213 infections reported on Monday.

According to the Ministry of Health, 3 more patients died over the past 24 hours due to complications caused by the virus.

The ministry on Sunday reported only two deaths, marking the lowest single-day virus-related deaths in more than 10 months since the outbreaks of the pandemic in the Kingdom.

This brings the total number of confirmed infections in the Kingdom to 366,584 and virus-related fatalities to 6,355.

The ministry also reported 198 new recoveries over the past 24 hours, raising the total number of people free from the deadly virus to 358,137, with the recovery rate climbing to 97.69.

The Riyadh region reported the highest number of infections with 75 cases, followed by the Eastern region with 50 and the Makkah region with 38 cases while the Al-Jouf region recorded just 1 case.

The remaining cases were detected in different other regions of the Kingdom.

With the drop in new COVID-19 cases over the past few days, the active cases in Saudi Arabia also rose to 2,092, out of which 333 were critical.
