RIYADH — The Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development reiterated that Saudi citizens have the equal right to work without any discrimination on the basis of gender or any other forms of discrimination, whether during the performance of work or while hiring or advertising about a job.

The ministry’s unequivocal clarification came in a response to a query via the ministry’s Customer Care account on Twitter after a company published an advertisement about jobs for men only.

“The advertisement is in contravention of Article 3 of the Labor Law,” the ministry said while emphasizing that work is the right of every citizen, and that no one is entitled to engage in any practice that violates this regulation without fulfilling the conditions stipulated in the Labor Law.
