Saudi, Iraqi interior ministers seek to enhance security cooperation

Saudi Arabia’s Interior Minister Prince Abdulaziz Bin Saud Bin Naif met on with his Iraqi counterpart, Othman Ali Al-Ghanimi, here on Monday.

At the outset of the meeting, Prince Abdulaziz welcomed the Iraqi interior minister and his accompanying delegation, praising the strong relations between the two countries.

In his opening speech, the Saudi interior minister said that the session of official talks comes as an affirmation of the distinguished relations that bind the two countries.

It also aims to lay down the necessary mechanisms to enhance the security and stability of the two countries in order to achieve the aspirations and visions of the leadership of the two countries in light of the results of the recent meeting between Crown Prince Muhammad Bin Salman and Iraqi Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kadhimi in which the outlines of the future of relations between the two countries were drawn, Prince Abdulaziz added.

During the meeting, they also discussed ways to enhance cooperation and joint coordination between the ministries of interior of the two countries. The meeting was also attended by senior officials from both sides.

The Iraqi minister left Riyadh later on Monday and he was seen off by Prince Abdulaziz at King Khalid International Airport.
