GCC secretary general receives EU ambassadors

RIYADH — Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Dr. Nayef Falah Mubarak Al-Hajraf received here Tuesday the ambassadors of the European Union (UN) to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

During the meeting, the GCC and the EU affirmed the importance of relations between the two sides.

For his part, the GCC Secretary General stressed the pivotal and important role that the GCC plays in promoting regional and international security and peace, pointing out that the region faces a number of challenges in Yemen, Iraq, Syria, Lebanon and others.

He asserted the importance of concerted efforts of the international community towards facing these challenges.

Dr. Al-Hajraf also reviewed the GCC efforts to support security and stability in Yemen, calling on the UN and the international community to urge the Houthi terrorist group joining the peace process and stopping the attacks on Marib and Saudi Arabia.

The GCC secretary general affirmed the importance of continuing cooperation between the GCC and the UN to serve security and stability, support the development efforts, address the challenges and seize common opportunities in all fields.

Al-Hajraf, Bourita

reaffirm depth of ties

Dr. Al-Hajraf and Moroccan Foreign Minister Nasser Bourita reaffirmed the importance of the strategic relations binding the GCC and Morocco in the light of the outcomes of the Sultan Qaboos and Sheikh Sabah summits, hosted by AlUla Governorate.

During a virtual meeting, the two sides reviewed various issues of common interest and aspects of cooperation between the GCC and the Kingdom of Morocco in several fields. They also reviewed outcomes of the joint working teams' meetings.

The two sides discussed a number of regional and international issues in accordance with the common vision to consolidate security and stability and to support the development endeavors in light of a host of challenges that demand the necessity of coordination and cooperation between the two sides in order to serve the GCC and Moroccan supreme interests.

UN envoy to Yemen

Dr. Al-Hajraf met with UN envoy to Yemen Martin Griffiths on Tuesday. During the meeting, the two sides reviewed efforts to support Yemen, to achieve the aspirations of the Yemeni people in various fields, and to enhance security and stability in Yemen. — SPA
