Vaccine rumors might cause harm to your loved ones: Health minister

Saudi Arabia's Minister of Health Dr. Tawfiq Al-Rabiah voiced his regret over the tendency on the part of some people in the society to circulate false information about coronavirus vaccines.


The minister made the remarks on Tuesday while commenting on an awareness video that contains misinformation about the vaccine: “We are sorry to see these scenes and it makes us painful, and hence I repeat: Do not let untrue convictions be the cause of harm to the one whom you love. Come forward to take the vaccine through registration on Sehhaty application and may Allah safeguard our fathers and mothers,” Dr. Al-Rabiah said.

It must be noted there is a video on social media platforms is in the form of dialogues among a group of young people, one of whom claims “the coronavirus vaccine has side effects.”

Commenting on such reckless dialogue about the vaccine among friends, the ministry warned against the dangers of being drawn into and getting involved in spreading rumors.


It is noteworthy that the Ministry of Health has been publishing video clips and text messages to enhance awareness among the members of the society about the coronavirus vaccine. It also underlined the need to take part in ensuring the health of the elderly people with registering their names on Sehhaty application to take the vaccine.

In the second phase of the ongoing national vaccination campaign, the ministry has expanded vaccination centers in all regions of the Kingdom so as to enable the public to take jabs from the vaccination centers near their homes. The ministry has set the toll free number 937 to answer all medical or procedural inquiries related with the coronavirus vaccine.

The National Scientific Committee of Infectious Diseases has approved one dose of the vaccine for those who have recovered from coronavirus infection and it will be after six months of the recovery, and the dose is meant to stimulate the recovered person’s natural immunity.
