Arab Coalition forces destroy ballistic missile targeting southern Saudi Arabia

RIYADH — The Arab Coalition forces on Friday intercepted and destroyed a ballistic missile launched by the Iran-backed Houthi militia targeting civilian areas in the southern regions of Saudi Arabia.

In a statement carried by the Saudi Press Agency, the official Spokesman of the Coalition to Restore Legitimacy in Yemen, Brig. Gen. Turki Al-Malki said: “The coalition forces have intercepted and destroyed on Friday evening a ballistic missile launched systematically and deliberately by the terrorist Houthi militia from Yemen’s Sa’dah governorate, targeting civilians and civilian facilities in the southern region of the Kingdom.

The spokesman added: The coalition forces will continue to implement all necessary operational procedures to dismantle, destroy and neutralize the advanced conventional weapons’ capabilities of the terrorist, Iran-backed Houthi militia, and safeguard civilians and civilian facilities in accordance with international humanitarian law.”

The missile attack is the third terrorist attack on Friday, targeting Saudi Arabia after the Arab Coalition intercepted two armed drones launched by the militia with one targeting the southern region and the other aiming at the city of Khamis Muhait.
