RIYADH — The Shoura Council Speaker Sheikh Dr. Abdullah Bin Mohammed Bin Ibrahim Al-Sheikh has expressed the Council’s strong rejection and condemnation of negative, false and unacceptable assessment in the report provided to the US Congress about the murder of Saudi citizen Jamal Khashoggi, as abusive accusations against the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and its leadership are unfounded and cannot be accepted in any way.
In a statement issued Sunday, the Shoura Council Speaker affirmed the Council’s complete rejection of any act aimed at undermining the sovereignty of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and its leadership or interfering upon its affairs, stressing that the people of Saudi Arabia strongly reject any act that targets Saudi Arabia and its leadership or undermines its role and position.
Dr. Al-Sheikh affirmed the Shoura Council's full support for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs' statement that completely rejected the report, and measures taken by the government to preserve its rights and gains. He pointed out that Saudi Arabia, under the leadership of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and Crown Prince, is moving forward in its pivotal role in supporting the culture of moderation and achieving security and peace.
Meanwhile, the General Secretariat of the Council of Senior Scholars of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia too has rejected the negative, false and unacceptable assessment in the report provided to the US Congress about the murder of Saudi citizen Khashoggi, affirming its full support for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ statement that completely rejected the report.
In a statement issued Sunday, the secretariat said that this report was not based on evidence or facts, confirming its full confidence in what the judiciary took regarding this case. It added that tracing judicial decisions is an offense to the justice system in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, which enjoys complete independence.
The General Secretariat pointed out that the people of Saudi Arabia stand behind their wise leadership, noting that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is a fundamental pillar in safeguarding human rights and supporting security and stability in the world through its policy of moderation and rejecting violence and extremism.
In Cairo, the Arab Parliament President Adel Bin Abdulrahman Al-Asoumi affirmed that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia represents a constant strategic depth and a basic pillar for the security of Arab countries, pointing out that infringing upon Saudi Arabia's sovereignty is targeting Arab security as a whole.
He said that the US report, which included speculation, allegations and false accusations, constitutes a blatant and unacceptable interference in the work of independent judicial authorities.
The Arab Parliament president warned of the dangers of politicizing human rights issues and using them as a pretext for interference in internal affairs, which is in flagrant contradiction to international regulations and rules that regulate relations between states, foremost among which is full respect for the sovereignty of states and non-interference in their internal affairs.
He stressed Saudi Arabia's central, pivotal and pioneering role, under the leadership of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman and Crown Prince, in enhancing security and stability at the regional and international levels.
He also expressed the Parliament’s appreciation for Saudi Arabia's efforts to support everything that strengthens Arab solidarity and unifies the word of Arab countries. Al-Asoumi reiterated that Saudi Arabia represents an impregnable fortress in the face of all dangers and threats surrounding the Arab nation. — SPA
