Saudi Arabia reports 302 new COVID-19 cases on anniversary of first confirmed infection

RIYADH — The Ministry of Health recorded on Tuesday 302 new COVID-19 cases on the one year anniversary of Saudi Arabia’s first confirmed COVID-19 case.

The Kingdom reported the first confirmed coronavirus infection on March 2, 2020.


The ministry announced five more deaths over the past 24 hours from complications caused by COVID-19.

This brings the total number of confirmed infections in the Kingdom to 378,002 and virus-related fatalities to 6,505.

The ministry also reported 286 recoveries over the past 24 hours, taking the total number of people free from the deadly virus reached 368,926.

The Riyadh region continued to record the highest number of infections with 136 cases, followed by the Eastern region with 78 and the Makkah region with 37 new infections.

The remaining cases were detected in other regions of the Kingdom with 10 of them reporting less than 10 infections.

With the slight drop in the number of new cases, the active cases in Saudi Arabia fell to 2,571 out of which 486 were critical.
