RIYADH — The United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), in partnership with Saudi Arabia's Oversight and Anti-Corruption Authority (Nazaha), organized virtually on Wednesday, the first meeting of an expert group to implement the Riyadh Initiative, which calls for establishing a global network aimed at enhancing international anti-corruption law enforcement cooperation.

The participating experts will discuss a number of issues and develop mechanisms to implement the Riyadh Initiative. The initiative seeks to create a global operational network to facilitate the exchange of information between anti-corruption law enforcement authorities. It also aims to launch a capacity-building program within the network for anti-corruption authorities’ workforces, especially in developing countries.

The Riyadh Initiative for enhancing international anti-corruption law enforcement cooperation was welcomed by the G20 leaders during the G20 Riyadh Summit held in Riyadh last year the chairmanship of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman.

The initiative was also welcomed by the G20 anti-corruption ministers in their first-ever G20 anti-corruption ministerial meeting, which was held under the chairmanship of the president of the Nazaha, Mazin Al-Kahmous.
