Saudi Gazette report

RIYADH — Single-day coronavirus cases in Saudi Arabia crossed the 350-mark once again after a gap of six days, with 375 new infections reported on Thursday, according a statement from the Ministry of Health.

The ministry announced four more deaths over the past 24 hours from complications caused by COVID-19.

This brings the total number of coronavirus infections in the Kingdom to 378,708 and virus-related fatalities to 6,514.

The ministry also reported 336 recoveries over the past 24 hours, raising the total number of people free from the deadly virus to 369,613.

The Riyadh region continued to record the highest number of infections with 162 cases, followed by the Eastern region with 66 and the Makkah region with 61 new infections.

The remaining cases were detected in other regions of the Kingdom with just five of them reporting less than 10 infections.

According to the ministry, there were 2,581 active cases and 503 of them were in critical condition.

Addressing a press conference on Thursday, a spokesman of the health ministry called on the public — citizens and residents — to continue following coronavirus precautionary measures and stay away from gatherings as the curve is still in the phase of fluctuation.

Stressing the efficacy and safety of vaccines, the spokesman said that all vaccines in the Kingdom are safe and effective, and there is no preference for one vaccine over another, urging everyone to get the jab as soon as possible.

Not getting the coronavirus vaccine is an adventure and a dangerous step, the spokesman warned.

He said that more than 1,100,000 doses of coronavirus vaccines have already administered and asked all those who have received the vaccine to avoid having contacts with positive cases until the specified period has passed.

We have so far not recorded any unexpected health symptoms in those who have received the jabs, the spokesman added.
