ARAR — The amount of phosphate in the Northern Border Region represents 7% of global reserve. The phosphate is located in Turaif city, specifically in Waad Al-Shamal Industrial City, which gives a developmental, economic and social dimension to the Northern Border Region due to its qualitative transfer in the level of economic development and bringing technology.

Waad Al-Shamal Industrial City covers an area 290 km, in addition to an area of 150 million meters that is specified for the phosphate industry only.

The industrial city includes a service area, center for conventional gas production, industrial area, a residential area and a mining institute. Saudi Arabian Mining Company (Ma'aden) undertook the construction of the city's infrastructure.

Waad Al-Shamal Industrial City was the last pumping station on the previous Trans-Arabian Pipeline. Today, it has become the first station of the giant national phosphate industry chain, which starts from this complex.

The production of Waad Al-Shamal is estimated at 3 million tons of fertilizers, in addition to 22,000 tons of manufacturing products. — SPA
