MAKKAH — The emirate of Makkah announced on Monday its decision to issue permits for holding iftar meals at the Grand Mosque in Makkah as well as in residential neighborhoods, main thoroughfares, and streets across the holy city.

The concerned committee under the emirate announced it has begun to issue permits to distribute iftar meal in a move heralding the return of life to normalcy and the resumption of worship at the Grand Mosque in Makkah during the fasting month of Ramadan after unprecedented coronavirus-related restrictions imposed during the fasting month last year.

The committee announced that it would receive applications from those wishing to get permits through the website: https://sr-mkh.org.sa. It has specified items that are authorized to be distributed as part of iftar meal for this year. These include food baskets that are distributed to needy families, hot meals in neighborhoods and outlets, and dry meals inside the Grand Mosque and its courtyards as well as in the residential neighborhoods of the holy city.

The outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic forced the emirate to stop the distribution of iftar meals in the Grand Mosque as well as in residential neighborhoods, roads, and streets across the holy city during the holy Ramadan last year.
