Saudi Arabia sees slight rise in new COVID-19 cases as recoveries remain steady

RIYADH — Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Health recorded on Wednesday 393 new COVID-19 cases over the past 24 hours, marking a slight increase in the number of new infections.

The ministry announced seven more deaths over the past 24 hours from complications caused by COVID-19.

This brings the total number of confirmed infections in the Kingdom to 383,499 and the virus-related fatalities to 6,585.

The ministry also reported 231 recoveries over the past 24 hours, raising the total number of people free from the deadly virus to 373,361.

The Riyadh region continued to record the highest number of infections with 144 cases, followed by the Makkah region with 80 and the Eastern region with 70 new infections.

The remaining cases were detected in other regions of the Kingdom with six of them reporting less than 10 infections.

According to the ministry, there were 3,553 active cases and 566 of them were in critical condition.
