SAN FERNANDO — The Royal Saudi Naval Forces has launched His Majesty's Ship Hail in Spanish waters at Navantia's shipyard in San Fernando, Spain. This is the third ship in the Sarawat project, that includes five ships of Corvette Avante 2200.

The Sarawat project ships include the latest combat systems to deal with air, surface and subsurface threats, as well as electronic warfare, and these ships are superior in their capabilities to many of the world's navies’ ships.

The Sarawat project ships are an addition to the capabilities of the Royal Saudi Navy to protect the nation's maritime capabilities and interests.

Commander of the Naval Forces Lt. Gen. Fahad Bin Abdullah Al-Ghofaily said that the launching of His Majesty's Ship Hail is in line with the unlimited support provided by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman, the Crown Prince and Deputy Minister of Defense.

Lt. Gen. Al-Ghofaily indicated that the Sarawat project would contribute to raising Royal Saudi Navy readiness level, enhance maritime security in the region and protect the Kingdom's vital strategic interests.

Commenting on this achievement, CEO of Saudi Arabian Military Industries (SAMI) Walid Bin Abdulmajeed Abu Khaled said: “We are proud to witness another historic moment in the strategic partnership between the Saudi Arabian Military Industries, the Royal Saudi Navy and the Spanish company Navantia.

“We are confident that the Hail Corvette will be an important addition to the Saudi Naval Forces fleet". — SPA
