CAIRO — Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi inaugurated a medical city in Khanka city in the Qalyubiyya governorate on Thursday.
The city, known as GYPTO Pharma medical city, will allow citizens to obtain high-quality, safe drug treatment at fair prices.
Covering 180,000 square meters, the city is one of the largest of its kind in the Middle East, and is equipped with the latest technologies and global systems in drug production.
It is set to become a regional center that will attract major international companies in the field of pharmaceutical and vaccine industries.
During the inauguration, El-Sisi said that the ability to manufacture pharmaceuticals goes beyond the idea of cost or economic gains, stressing that Egypt is ready to provide all facilities for the medical industry and to encourage the private sector.
The president also noted that Egypt will work on manufacturing oncology drugs to meet 100 percent of the demands inside the country, whatever the required technology and materials for raw materials. — Agencies
