MANAMA — Authorities in Bahrain have arrested two men h for their alleged role in a wedding celebration, which was attended by more than 30 people.

The Public Prosecution said it interrogated two suspects after video evidence showed they were “clearly active” in the street gathering at a residential area in breach of the mandatory precautionary measures for combating the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Public Prosecution had also asked for results of the police investigation with other participants who will face a criminal trial, the Bahrain News Agency reported on Monday

The Public Prosecution warned that it would take all deterrent legal measures to clamp down on such violations.

Authorities again called on the public to comply with all mandatory precautionary measures for combating COVID-19 and adhere to health protocols to curb infections in support of national efforts fighting the pandemic.


They reiterated that the Public Prosecution would take legal action against violators of the mandatory precautionary measures, warning that lawbreakers would be jailed up to three years and fined BD5,000 (SR50,000 approximately).
