Sharaan natural reserve in AlUla governorate provides a suitable environment for various types of wild animals that live in the area since ancient times. Crown Prince Muhammad Bin Salman inaugurated this reserve, which spreads over an area of 1500 square kilometers with diverse terrain consisting of rugged mountains, rocks, and valleys. The reserve hosts many types of wild animals, including gazelle, Arabian oryx, ibex, and African ostriches. There are protection programs to preserve the endangered species in the reserve. There are plans in the “Green Saudi” and “Green Middle East” initiatives announced by the Crown Prince to protect vegetation cover and natural reserves across the Kingdom. —SPA
