RIYADH — Jeddah on Monday witnessed the laying of the foundation stone of construction works for the Jeddah Formula One circuit, which will host Saudi Arabian Grand Prix between Dec. 3 and 5, 2021 on the Jeddah Corniche.

The Formula One race will be held in the presence of Prince Khalid Bin Sultan Al-Abdullah Al-Faisal, chairman of the Board of Directors of Saudi Automobile and Motorcycle Federation (SAMF), and other members of the federation.

Constructing the circuit will be implemented according to best local and international standards, where local stones will be used to build the surface of the circuit.

The construction stages will take into consideration healthy environmental aspects that aim later at promoting sustainability messages while holding the race, such as non-mineral products and products of the waste used while establishing the road.

The 6,175-meter-long Jeddah circuit will host the penultimate race on the Formula One season calendar. — SPA
