New COVID-19 cases hit 916 as critical cases stay above 1,000 for third day

RIYADH — Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Health recorded on Sunday 916 new COVID-19 cases and 13 more virus-related deaths over the past 24 hours.

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia reported the number of critical cases stayed above 1,000 for the third straight day.

This brings the total number of confirmed infections in the Kingdom to 404,970 and the virus-related fatalities to 6,823.

The ministry also reported 907 recoveries over the past 24 hours, raising the total number of people free from the deadly virus to 388,702.

The Riyadh region recorded the highest number of new cases with 402 followed by the Makkah region with 203 and the Eastern region with 131 infections.

The remaining cases were detected in other regions of the Kingdom with just three of them reporting less than 10 infections.

According to the ministry, there were 9,445 active cases and 1,044 of them were in critical condition.
