Al-Ghamamah Mosque is one of the oldest mosques in Madinah. Located 500 meters southwest of Al-Salam Gate of the Prophet’s Mosque, the mosque was built first by the Umayyad Caliph Umar Bin Abdul Aziz when he was the governor of Madinah. The mosque named after Al-Ghamamah, which means cloud, and was constructed on an area covering 480 square meters in the place where Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) performed Eid prayer and offered rain-seeking prayer when the city of Madinah faced shortage of rain. — SPA
