KSrelief signs two joint agreements to serve needy people in Yemen

RIYADH — The King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSrelief) signed Mnoday two joint agreements with International War and Disaster Victims Protection Association to enhance and provide health and nutrition services to millions of needy Yemeni citizens.

In a press statement, Dr. Abdullah Saleh Al-Moallem, director of KSrelief's Health and Environmental Aid Department, said that the first agreement amounts to $5.5 million and stipulates providing primary health care services and managing malnutrition cases in Yemen.

He added that this agreement will cover and benefit around 2,429,000 individuals in the governorates of Al-Mahrah, Abyan, Al-Dhale, Shabwah, Aden, Taiz, and Hadhramaut.

Al-Moallem noted that the agreement aims to provide basic services in the health and nutrition sectors within the necessary health services package in case of emergency, which includes providing nutritional survey and assessment for children under the age of five years and pregnant women.

The services also include participating in routine vaccination campaigns, medical diagnosis and treatment for all age groups of both genders in the target communities within the project, localizing the service and training new national cadres.

Al-Moallem added that under the second agreement, Marib Prosthetic and Rehabilitation Center (phase six) would be operational, benefiting 3,549 individuals, at a value of $1.722 million.

The center will provide physical rehabilitation services for people with special needs, identifying the appropriate treatment plan for each patient on an individual basis and installing artificial limbs of all kinds,

The center will also provide functional rehabilitation service for prostheses, raising professional and scientific capabilities of the medical staff, and preparing them to deal with special cases, and tackling the migration of specialized medical and technical personnel.

In Ramallah, KSrelief distributed Sunday 1,420 Ramadan food baskets in West Bank and Gaza Strip, the State of Palestine, benefiting 1,420 needy families, 7,100 individuals. This falls within KSrelief's project to distribute food baskets in the State of Palestine during this year's holy month of Ramadan.

In Riyadh, KSrelief and International War and Disaster Victims Protection Association signed Monday a joint agreement amounting to $972,000 to enhance health care services for Syrian refugees and the host community in Aarsal, Lebanon, benefiting 65,000 individuals.

Dr. Abdullah Saleh Al-Moallem, director of KSrelief's Health and Environmental Aid Department said in a press statement that under the agreement, health care services, psychological, social, nutritional support, and free medicines will be provided to Syrian refugees and Lebanese citizens in Aarsal and its countryside free of charge and as per the best health standards.

Al-Moallem added that the agreement also stipulates developing the national health information and data management system and supporting existing national programs, in addition to participating in routine vaccination campaigns approved by the World Health Organization and the Lebanese Ministry of Health, raising health and nutrition awareness, promoting personal and general hygiene, limiting the spread of communicable diseases and promoting healthy nutrition methods.

In Al-Mahrah, KSrelief launched Sunday a project to distribute 106 tons and 893 kgs of Ramadan food baskets in Al-Mahrah Governorate, Yemen, benefiting 5,940 individuals. This falls within KSrelief's project to distribute food baskets in Yemen during this year's holy month of Ramadan. — SPA
