NEOM — Crown Prince Muhammad Bin Salman, deputy premier and minister of defense, met with US Special Envoy for Yemen Timothy Lenderking, the Saudi Press Agency reported early Friday.
During the meeting, they discussed the latest Yemeni developments and reviewed the joint efforts exerted by both countries to reach a comprehensive political solution to the Yemeni crisis.
The meeting was attended by Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan, Deputy Defense Minister Prince Khalid Bin Salman, Saudi Ambassador to the US Princess Reema Bint Bandar Bin Sultan and Saudi Ambassador to Yemen Mohammed Al-Jaber.
From the US side, chargé d’affaires of the US Embassy in Riyadh Martina Strong and US Ambassador to Yemen Christopher Henzel also attended the meeting.
Lenderking, who was on an official visit to Saudi Arabia, was also expected to travel to Oman, according to a statement from the US Department of State.
“US Special Envoy Lenderking’s discussions will focus on ensuring the regular and unimpeded delivery of commodities and humanitarian assistance throughout Yemen, promoting a lasting ceasefire, and transitioning the parties to a political process,” the statement read.
Earlier this week, the US special envoy for Yemen met with US Secretary of State Antony Blinken to apprise him about the efforts being made to resolve the Yemeni crisis.
