Recoveries surge as new infections in Saudi Arabia stay below 1,000-mark

JEDDAH — Single-day COVID-19 cases dropped below the 1,000-mark for the second straight day on Monday with 953 new infections recorded over the past 24 hours, according to the Ministry of Health.

The ministry announced 13 more deaths over the past 24 hours due to complications caused by the deadly virus.

This brings the total number of confirmed infections in the Kingdom to 420,301 and the virus-related fatalities to 6,992.

The ministry also reported 1,038 recoveries over the past 24 hours, raising the total number of people free from the deadly virus to 403,702.

The Riyadh region recorded the highest number of new cases with 386 followed by the Makkah region with 244 and the Eastern region with 117 infections.

The remaining cases were detected in other regions of the Kingdom with four recording single digit cases.

According to the ministry, there were 9,607 active cases and 1,359 of them were in critical condition.
