COVID-19 recoveries outpace new cases as Saudi Arabia records 1,039 new infections

JEDDAH — Single-day COVID-19 cases continued to remain above the 1,000-mark on Friday, with 1,039 new infections recorded over the past 24 hours, according to the Ministry of Health.

The ministry announced 13 more deaths over the past 24 hours due to complications caused by the deadly virus.

This brings the total number of confirmed infections in the Kingdom to 424,445 and the virus-related fatalities to 7,045.

The ministry also reported 1,061 recoveries over the past 24 hours, raising the total number of people free from the deadly virus to 407,650.

The Riyadh region recorded the highest number of new cases with 386 followed by the Makkah region with 274 and the Eastern region with 140 infections.

The remaining cases were detected in other regions of the Kingdom.

According to the ministry, there were 9,750 active cases and 1,311 of them were in critical condition.
