RIYADH — Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman has approved a project to build a grand mosque named after him at the new campus of the International Islamic University (IIU) in Pakistan’s capital city, Islamabad.

The project worth $32 million, which is located in the H10 sector of the city, covering an area of ​​41,200 square meters, includes a prayer hall, a library, a museum all named after the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman. It also has a conference hall named after Crown Prince Muhammad Bin Salman, in addition to administrative facilities and ancillary services.

The area of ​​the prayer hall is 6,800 square meters and can accommodate about 6,000 worshipers, the covered balcony of the mosque occupies an area of ​​600 square meters and the courtyard of 4,500 square meters that can accommodate 6000 worshipers, while the ablution facilities for men and women occupy an area of ​​1,000 square meters.

The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques Library covers an area of ​​2,800 square meters and the Museum of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques for Islamic History covers an area of ​​2,200 square meters, while the area of ​​Crown Prince Muhammed Bin Salman’s conference hall is 2,800 square meters and it can accommodate 500 people.

As for the exhibition area, it occupies an area of ​​the project's area estimated at 2,200 square meters, and the facilities and services of ​​the basement take up an area of ​​2,800 square meters, bringing the total area of ​​the mosque with its vital facilities to 33,000 square meters.

The mosque overlooks an outdoor garden of 8,500 square meters, while a parking space of 7,000 square meters has been allocated.
