New COVID-19 cases in Saudi Arabia stay below 1,000; recoveries steady

JEDDAH — Single-day COVID-19 cases dipped below the 1,000-mark on Sunday, the second straight day, with 942 new infections recorded over the past 24 hours, according to the Ministry of Health.

The ministry announced 13 more deaths over the past 24 hours due to complications caused by the deadly virus.

This brings the total number of confirmed infections in the Kingdom to 426,384 and the virus-related fatalities to 7,072.

The ministry also reported 1,064 recoveries over the past 24 hours, raising the total number of people free from the deadly virus to 409,740.

The Riyadh region recorded the highest number of new cases with 334 followed by the Makkah region with 286 and the Eastern region with 112 infections.

The remaining cases were detected in other regions of the Kingdom with four regions registering single digit cases, less than 10 infections.

According to the ministry, there were 9,572 active cases and 1,336 of them were in critical condition.
