RIYADH — In an unsurprising humanitarian gesture from the wise leadership, Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman and Crown Prince Muhammad Bin Salman have registered in the organ donation program of the Saudi Center for Organ Transplantation (SCOT).

This move comes within the framework of the great care that patients with end-stage organ failure receive from the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and the Crown Prince.

The leadership also aims to encourage all citizens and residents to register in the program due to its great importance in spreading hope among patients whose lives depend on the transplant of a new organ. This is also in compliance with the words of God Almighty (and whoever saves a life, it will be as if they saved all of humanity).

King Salman had worked to establish the Saudi Center for Organ Transplantation — previously known as the National Center for Kidneys — in order to relieve the suffering of patients with kidney failure, whose numbers are increasing.

The center also emphasizes the importance of expanding the circle of organ donation to include all patients with end-stage organ failure and spread hope among those on waiting lists and whose recovery process depends on the transplant of a new organ such as a heart, liver, kidney, and lung among others.

The initiative of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and the Crown Prince to register in the organ donation program constitutes a caring, paternal gesture toward such patients.

It also serves as an incentive to fortify one of the most important forms of solidarity known to the Saudi society, as well as enhance public health levels and increase the medical sector’s efficiency and success rate in conducting such complex operations in the future.

Following the lead of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and Crown Prince, senior ministers and governors also joined the program.

Among those who registered were Energy Minister Prince Abdulaziz Bin Salman; National Guard Minister Prince Abdullah bin Bandar; Madinah Governor Prince Faisal Bin Salman; Governor of the Eastern Region Prince Saud Bin Nayef; Governor of the Northern Borders Region Prince Faisal Bin Khalid Bin Sultan; Governor of Al-Baha Prince Dr. Hussam Bin Saud; and Governor of Al-Jouf Prince Faisal Bin Nawwaf
