JEDDAH — Coronavirus cases in Saudi Arabia surged past the 1,000 mark once again on Wednesday after a gap of four days, with 1,020 new infections recorded over the past 24 hours.
According to the Ministry of Health, 13 more people died over the past 24 hours due to complications caused by the virus.
This brings the total number of confirmed infections in the Kingdom to 429,389 and the virus-related fatalities to 7,111.
The ministry also reported 908 recoveries over the past 24 hours, raising the total number of people free from the deadly virus to 413,010.
The Riyadh region recorded the highest number of new cases with 342 followed by the Makkah region with 276 and the Eastern region with 133 infections.
The remaining cases were detected in other regions of the Kingdom with just two regions reporting less than 10 infections.
According to the ministry, there were 9,268 active cases and 1,352 of them were in critical condition.
