Active COVID-19 cases drop below 8,000 in KSA as recoveries continue to outnumber new infections

JEDDAH — New coronavirus cases in Saudi Arabia remained below 900 on Monday for the third consecutive day, with 886 new infections recorded over the past 24 hours.

According to the Ministry of Health, 12 more people died over the past 24 hours due to complications caused by the virus.

This brings the total number of confirmed infections in the Kingdom to 433,980 and the virus-related fatalities to 7,174.

The ministry also reported 1,127 recoveries over the past 24 hours, raising the total number of people free from the deadly virus to 418,914.

The Riyadh region recorded the highest number of new cases with 281 followed by the Makkah region with 250 and the Eastern region with 97 infections.

The remaining cases were detected in other regions of the Kingdom with just two regions reporting less than 10 infections.

According to the ministry, there were 7,892 active cases and 1,377 of them were in critical condition.
