RIYADH — Abdulrahman Bin Raad Al-Hamdan, a Saudi scholarship student, never knew he would not be alive to see his dream of getting a bachelor’s degree from New York University becoming a reality, as he passed away three months before graduation. However, the university insisted on granting him the degree after his death.

The late Al-Hamdan’s friend, Ghassan Jamal, who used to meet his friend frequently, due to his work as the coordinator for Saudis in the United States, told Al-Arabiya that Abdulrahman Al-Hamdan died suddenly while in Saudi Arabia amid his family members.

He also drew attention to the fact that Al-Hamdan was working on his project for the last semester in his studies in computer sciences, but he passed away before graduation at the age of 23 years, and he was buried in Jeddah.

It is noteworthy that Al-Hamdan won many awards and prizes in international and local science competitions. He was one of the outstanding students in scientific research in the fields of Artificial Intelligence (AI), simulation, and software.

He also presented many projects on AI, the last of which was transforming the human brain inside the computer into a talking machine.
