RIYADH — The Regional Laboratory and Blood Bank in Riyadh has won a new international recognition after achieving all accreditation standards of the American Association of Blood Banks (AABB).

The General Directorate of Health Affairs in Riyadh said in a statement that the accreditation is granted to blood banks that adhere to internationally recognized AABB standards in terms of quality management systems and operational processes.

The directorate has also indicated that the Regional Laboratory in Riyadh carries out more than 17 million tests a year and provides services to more than 500 healthcare facilities.

It added that the laboratory is a leading training and rehabilitation institution serving 12 governmental and private universities in the field of qualifying doctors and medical staff to work in clinical laboratories.

The Riyadh-based facility is keen on applying international standards related to carrying out laboratory tests in full precision and accuracy to reduce human errors, and contribute to providing high-level diagnostic and therapeutic care. — SPA
