Coronavirus active cases top 10,000 again as KSA sees over 1,200 new infections for 3 days in a row

JEDDAH — New COVID-19 cases in Saudi Arabia continued to remain above 1,200 on Wednesday for the third consecutive day, with 1,269 new infections recorded over the past 24 hours, according to a statement from the Ministry of Health.

The ministry also announced 16 more deaths over the past 24 hours due to complications caused by the virus.

This brings the total number of confirmed infections in the Kingdom to 452,956 and the virus-related fatalities to 7,393.

The ministry also reported 1,081 recoveries over the past 24 hours, raising the total number of people free from the deadly virus to 435,520.

The Makkah region reported the highest number of new cases with 444, followed by the Riyadh region with 288, the Eastern region with 162, and the Madinah region with 89 infections.

The remaining cases were detected in other regions of the Kingdom with three of them reporting less than 10 infections.

According to the ministry, there were 10,043 active cases and 1,489 of them were in critical condition.
