RIYADH — Yemen's Minister of Information Muammar Al-Eryani said the incinerated bodies of two children killed by a Houthi missile attack in Marib on Saturday shows the ugliness of the Houthi militia's criminality and the international community's letdown of the Yemeni people.
In a statement to Yemeni News Agency (Saba), the information minister said that the incinerated bodies of five-year-old girl Layan Taher and the boy Hassan Alhubeishi in the Houthi militia's attack on an oil station, where civilian casualty toll according to the latest updates has reached 21, shows the ugliness of the Houthi militia's criminality and the international community's letdown of the Yemeni people.
"This despicable terrorist crime is a continuation of the series of non-stopping deliberate attacks the Houthi militia have been waging against the neighborhoods of Marib city," he said. He said these attacks "are meant to incur the highest possible casualty toll amongst civilians."
Al-Eryani warned of catastrophic risks posed by the Houthi militia who are waging an incessant war to press forward on Marib province where 7.5% of all Yemen's population and 60% of all Yemen's IDPs reside.
Al-Eryani said, "The international community acts blind towards the Houthi crimes" saying the Yemeni people won't forget those who let it down.
Meanwhile, the US embassy in Yemen condemned the blazing war that Houthi militias perpetrated against civilians in Marib Governorate, Yemen.
The Yemeni News Agency Saba reported that Cathy Westley, charge d’affaires at the US embassy took to Twitter to say: We are horrified by reports the Houthis used a ballistic missile to destroy a gas station in Marib, killing and wounding civilians”.
“The Houthis reportedly then used a drone to attack an ambulance crew coming to aid the injured. This inhuman violence must end.”
The British Ambassador to Yemen Michael Aron, in a tweet on his official Twitter account, described the incident as shocking, saying: “Shocking reports of explosions at a petrol station in Marib leaving dozens of civilians killed & injured.”
Aron added: “The Houthis must stop their Marib offensive and engage seriously with the UN.” — SPA
