1,161 new COVID-19 cases reported as KSA hits 15mn mark for vaccine doses

RIYADH — More than 15 million doses of the coronavirus (COVID-19) vaccine have been administered through 587 designated vaccine centers across Saudi Arabia, the Ministry of Health announced on Monday.

The ministry recorded 1,161 new COVID-19 cases and 15 deaths due to complications caused by the virus over the past 24 hours.

This brings the total number of confirmed infections in the Kingdom to 458,707 and the virus-related fatalities to 7,471.

According to the ministry, a total of 1,216 people recovered over the past 24 hours, raising the total number of people free from the deadly virus to 441,860.

The Makkah region reported the highest number of new cases with 438, followed by the Riyadh region with 204, the Eastern region with 178, and the Madinah region with 81 infections.

The remaining cases were detected in other regions of the Kingdom with just three of them reporting less than 10 infections.

According to the ministry, there were 9,376 active cases and 1,579 of them were in critical condition.
