Active cases top 10,000 as KSA continues to report over 1,200 new COVID-19 infections

RIYADH — New COVID-19 cases in Saudi Arabia continued to remain over 1,200 on Thursday for the third consecutive day, with 1,286 new infections recorded over the past 24 hours.

According to the Ministry of Health, 16 more people died over the past 24 hours due to complications caused by the virus.

This brings the total number of confirmed infections in the Kingdom to 462,528 and the virus-related fatalities to 7,519.

The ministry also reported 982 recoveries over the past 24 hours, raising the total number of people free from the deadly virus to 444,792.

The Makkah region reported the highest number of new cases with 419, followed by the Riyadh region with 263, the Eastern region with 191, and the Madinah region with 98 infections.

The remaining cases were detected in other regions of the Kingdom with just two of them reporting less than 10 infections.

According to the ministry, there were 10,217 active cases and 1,553 of them were in critical condition.
