Saudi Arabia’s daily infection stay below 1,200 mark for 2nd straight day

RIYADH — New COVID-19 cases in Saudi Arabia fell below 1,200 again on Saturday, with 1,077 new infections recorded over the past 24 hours.

According to the Ministry of Health, 16 more people died over the past 24 hours due to complications caused by the virus.

This brings the total number of confirmed infections in the Kingdom to 464,780 and the virus-related fatalities to 7,553.

The ministry also reported 906 recoveries over the past 24 hours, raising the total number of people free from the deadly virus to 446,960.

The Makkah region reported the highest number of new cases with 348, followed by the Riyadh region with 225, the Eastern region with 149, the Asir region with 97, the Jazan region with 70 and the Madinah region with 69 infections.

The remaining cases were detected in other regions of the Kingdom with just two of them reporting less than 10 infections.

According to the ministry, there were 10,267 active cases and 1,562 of them were in critical condition.
