Prince Talal Prize honors clean water advocates in its annual ceremony

RIYADH — Prince Abdulaziz Bin Talal, president of the Arab Gulf Program for Development (AGFUND) and Chairman of Prince Talal International Prize for Human Development Committee, will attend tomorrow the award ceremony to honor the winners of Prince Talal International Prize for Human Development.

The ceremony will be held virtually with participation of Queen Sophia, representing the Prize Committee; United Nations Assistant Secretary-General and Executive Director of the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) Nikhil Seth; Director-General of the OPEC Fund for International Development Dr. Abdulhamid Al-Khalifa; Executive Director of AGFUND Nasser Al-Qhahtani; and a number of representatives from international and UN organizations, the diplomatic sector, development experts and AGFUND Board of Directors.

The $1,000,000 prize is awarded annually to the four projects that were implemented by: (UN, international and regional organizations, national NGOs, public institutions, social business enterprises and foundations as well as individuals).

It is worth mentioning that the award ceremony is being held for the winners of the year 2019 that competed for the Prize in the field of “Water and Sanitation”, which is the Sixth Goal of the 2030 Agenda. — SPA
