Coronavirus active cases rise in KSA as new infections outpace recoveries

RIYADH — Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Health on Wednesday recorded 1,239 new COVID-19 cases over the past 24 hours.

According to the Ministry of Health, 15 more people died over the past 24 hours due to complications caused by the virus.

This brings the total number of confirmed infections in the Kingdom to 469,414 and the virus-related fatalities to 7,621.

The ministry also reported 932 recoveries over the past 24 hours, raising the total number of people free from the deadly virus to 451,187.

The Makkah region reported the highest number of new cases with 371, followed by the Riyadh region with 253, the Eastern region with 229, and the Asir region with 98 infections.

The remaining cases were detected in other regions of the Kingdom with just two of them reporting less than 10 infections.

According to the ministry, there were 10,606 active cases and 1,549 of them were in critical condition.
